CSA 2010

Truck drivers now have another obstacle that effects their ability to be hired in the trucking industry.  CSA 2010 is the latest guideline to be introduced by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration  that effects both trucking companies and their truck drivers and owner operators.

CSA 2010 has been carefully planned and developed over the past few years. It began with a thorough review of the agency’s current compliance review process, and proceeded through the development of a new Safety Measurement System (SMS) that will use all roadside inspection and crash data and the development of a new interventions toolbox to deal efficiently and effectively with safety problems of various natures and different levels (as identified in SMS). In addition, the new model includes a proposed change to Safety Fitness Determination (SFD), also tied to SMS results, although implementation of CSA 2010 is not dependent on the proposed change.  More info

DAC Report

In today's world with identity theft of personal information in the news on a regular basis, the chance of erroneous information on a criminal background check is more likely. When a company runs a background check on an applicant, and negative criminal activity is reported.  The company has to assume that the information is correct.  If it isn't correct then it is up to the applicant to prove otherwise.

Here are some suggestions to correct your criminal report:

1). If the reported crime was a single incident, and occurred in your local county.  Then you can go to your local police or county sheriff and report the error to them.  You can request a copy of your criminal record, and will probably be required to provide your fingerprints for a fingerprint search, photos, or other requested information to prove that you were not the person that committed the crime.

2). The best way to clear up problems on your criminal report is to get a nationwide FBI background check, which cost $18.  The FBI will compare your fingerprints against a national database of fingerprints.  The search will report either "No Record Found" or a report of records found from the information that you provided.  For more information here is a link for the FBI background check.

TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Many trucking companies are now requiring truck drivers to obtain a TWIC card.  The TWIC is required for truck drivers, and others that need unescorted access to U.S. Ports or any other secure areas of maritime facilities.

The fee for TWIC is $132.50 and is valid for five years. Workers with current, comparable background checks will pay a reduced fee of $105.25. If workers are eligible to pay the lower price, their TWIC will expire 5 years from the date of the comparable credential. The cost of a replacement TWIC, if the original is lost, stolen, or damaged, is $60.
